Come join us from 6-9pm this Friday April 4th, for Leesburg's First Friday event. The Cooley Gallery will feature potter, Dan Finnegan of LibertyTown Arts Workshop.
Enjoy a glass of white or red which will be provided by, The Barns at Hamilton Station Vineyard, who will be pouring. Did you know we have some very unusual and not so modern wine goblets/cups at the gallery for that glass of wine? If you purchase a goblet/cup the gallery will provide a chip for your first glass of wine. (mention you saw it on our blog)

Dan studied ceramics in New York and Arizona and went to England in 1978 to train with Ray Finch at Winchcombe Pottery. He returned to the United States in 1980 and set up a workshop in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Dan's work is mostly Wood-fired and salt glazed stoneware.
Dan has been a juried member of the Association of Virginia Artisans since 1993 and was a faculty member of the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria Virginia from 1994 to 1997. Through the years we have had clients ask about pottery classes, although the gallery does not have them, Dan does. Dan has been a teacher for many years. He has trained a number of potters in his own studio and taught a popular class at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Virginia. He often teaches workshops around the country and overseas. http://www.folkartguild.org/ai1ec_event/pottery-workshop/?instance_id=
In 2012 he co-founded a new show in Washington, DC. "Pottery on the Hill" it is a group of 15 nationally recognized potters selling work in an elegant civil war-era cultural center in the heart of the nation's capital. In 2013 he sold the art center and now works in a studio deep in the woods next to his 2 chamber wood-fired kiln outside of Fredericksburg, Virginia.
