The Cooley Gallery is Proud and excited to feature the wood fired pottery of Tom and Jeff Unzicker through the month of August. Join us for the opening Friday, August 3rd.

Unzicker Bros. Pottery is located just outside of Thorntown in central Indiana. The pottery produces a wide range of functional and decorative stoneware. The majority of our work is fired in a large wood-burning kiln, which creates a unique natural ash glaze. The gallery at our shop is open 9-5 Monday through Saturday, and visitors are always welcome.

With Chris traveling before training camp starts at the end of July, I offered to fire a kiln load of his work while he was on the road. Little did I know that the day I planned to fire was going to be 98 degrees and disgustingly humid. I fired with propane for 6 hours and finished it off with wood for another 13 hours. There is no escaping the heat of the wood kiln in July and the only thing that saved me was a dip in the pool between stokes.
